Betty Blocks – ‘Jasper joined Betty Blocks in 2017, drawn to their visionary approach’
Jasper Afman joined Betty Blocks (formerly known as Holder) in October 2017, drawn to their visionary approach to software development and the recognition they had received from industry analysts like Gartner and Forrester. Initially joining as a project manager, Jasper transitioned to the role of Product Owner, then briefly worked in the Sales department as a Solution Engineer before returning to Services to help establish the consultancy department.
Currently, Jasper holds the position of Delivery Manager, a role created to address the broader scope of Citizen Development. In this role, he works closely with customers to help them scale the platform within their organization, analyzing software development lifecycle, identifying scalability gaps, and enabling customers to independently deliver their own apps. Jasper also provides support in creating business cases for stakeholders and assists clients with promoting and optimizing app utilization even after completion.
Jasper’s role requires a big-picture perspective and close collaboration with clients, often feeling like he is working for their company. He finds energy in gaining insights into diverse organizations and working in a dynamic environment that requires constant learning and adaptation. As Citizen Development is a relatively new field, Jasper sees himself as a pioneer, constantly exploring new approaches.
One of the aspects Jasper particularly enjoys about working at Betty Blocks is the opportunity to help establish new departments within the company, addressing internal challenges and implementing effective solutions.
