Senior Software Engineer
About the role
This role sits within our Big Data team in R&D. If you have a vision of how the team and Mendix should move forward in this domain, we’d love to discuss these with you. Our teams are independent but you are not alone. You will be able to interact and work closely with other teams across Mendix.
We do drink our own champagne so knowledge or interest to work with the Mendix low-code stack is part of the job. We are a hybrid company and expect you to joint the office one to two days per week. More is never a problem.
You’ll help our customers drive digital innovation by:
- Assuring that your part of the platform runs smoothly and securely. It’s an integral part of our customer’s setup and is in use for their mission-critical systems
- Conquering technical challenges by finding innovative solutions. You’ll have the opportunity to harness all your skills to make a difference in your role
- Always have a customer-first approach
- Have a high standard of quality, this is non-optional for you
- Think at scale
We’re looking for you if:
- You have 5+ years of software development experience as a full-stack developer with Java Microservices; good to have Go or Python as well
- You are an artisan and able to create reliable, maintainable and scalable solutions
- You understand the mindset: you build it, you run it
- You lead by example
- You have a home address within a reasonable commute time from our Rotterdam office or are open to relocating to the Netherlands
- You are willing to work with the Mendix low-code application development suite. 20% of your time will be in this domain
- You strive in unknowns and welcome challenges along the way- you are able to strike a balance between experimenting and pragmatism
- You are able to find the right tool/language for the problem- currently, we work in Java, Python and Go
- You have previously worked with Cloud providers like AWS and have working knowledge of Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, AWS, OpenSearch, Kafka, Aurora vector db
